Description

Wow – winemaker, Nick Spencer has excelled here!
Since its very first vintage when it won the Jimmy Watson Memorial Trophy, The Long Road Shiraz has quickly become eagerly sought-after steming from the fact that it was born to express the new and exciting wine regions around the high country of NSW, as an elegant and contemporary style of Shiraz. The fruit was sourced from high country vineyards across NSW, predominantly of Gundagai Shiraz (94%) and a small amount of Canberra Shiraz. (5%) and Hilltops (1%)  Beautiful lifted perfume, with bright red fruits and berries, warm spicy notes, and a hint of roasted herbs, juniper and gun smoke. The palate is vinous, highly structured and dense with pillowy, plush tannins and excellent length.   94 points James Halliday  “It’s a light, fragrant, ‘Burgundian’ rendition of shiraz. The kind that is often labelled as ‘syrah’. It was mostly grown at Gundagai (92%) with input from grapes grown in the Canberra and Hilltops wine regions. 25% whole bunches. It tastes of roasted nuts, red cherries, undergrowthy herbs and woodspice. Its balance is impeccable, as is the wrap of tannin though the juicy finish. Exciting face of Aussie shiraz.”
