Description
André Perret’s 12 hectares of vines are planted in some of the best terroir of Condrieu and St. Joseph. He is considered one of the finest producers of white wine in the Rhône Valley, and the quality of his reds is increasing from vintage to vintage.
‘Unquestionably, some of my favorite Condrieu, as well as Saint-Joseph, emerges from this tiny estate located off route N7, just south of Condrieu .. the classic Saint-Joseph comes from sites all in the northern part of the appellation and is destemmed and aged in roughly 20% new 400-liter barrels … while Andre is still fully involved, he has been joined in the cellar by his daughter, Marie, who previously made wine in both California and Chile. As I’ve written many times, Rhône lovers need to have these wines in their cellars.’ JebDunnuck.com March 2024
While known largely for their Condrieu, this estate makes brilliant, age-worthy Saint-Josephs!’ JebDunnuck.com
This cuvée is a blend of Syrah vines located on terraces, in the commune of Chavanay in the north part of St Joseph near Condrieu. The maceration and fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks, and lasted around 2 to 3 weeks; the wine was then aged in 400L barrels and barriques, with approximately 20% new oak, for 12-14 months.
93 JebDunnuck.com Sept 2025 “Rocking stuff, the 2023 Saint Joseph has a gorgeous meaty nose of smoked bacon, ripe red and black cherries, leather, and violets. It’s medium-bodied and concentrated on the palate, with a pure, layered mouthfeel and ultra-fine tannins. This cuvée is underrated in the market, and savvy readers will buy it by the case year in and year out. Drink this terrific Saint Joseph over the coming 15 years. Drink 2026-2041.”
4.5 stars JJL The Rhone Report “Dark red; the nose has a careful air of plums, blackberry in back, is together, nearly ready to emerge. The palate bears cool fruiting, with spark in the tannins, is a touch delicate towards the finish, fine juice there, but a slight drop off in the level of content. The length is good, though, with menthol and iron touches in its up aftertaste. 13.5° 2033-34 Apr 2025”
