Set against the dramatic backdrop of the Great Dividing Range in the Grampians region of Victoria Mount Langi Ghiran is undoubtably one of Australia’s greatest shiraz producers and consistently rated 5 Red Stars by James Halliday. Mount Langi Ghiran is one of the most isolated and unique vineyards in Australia. The cool climate, granite soils and historic vines combine to produce wines of distinction.
About this wine from the winemakers: “Mount Langi Ghiran is a pioneer of cool climate winemaking renowned for producing fragrant, spicy wine with elegance and character. Named after the creek that runs nearby our property, the Billi Billi Rose is a dry and delicately fresh wine with subtly spiced aromas.
“Sangiovese (75%) & Shiraz (25%) from Mount Langi Ghiran Hollows and Estate vineyards, average vine age of 25+ years. Whole bunches pressed together to tank and fermented cool to retain freshness.
93 points, Ray Jordan, Wine Pilot “This is a combination of Sangiovese and Pinot Noir, sourced from the Grampians and the Mount Langi Ghiran estate. Strikes with a burst of vibrant, punchy red fruit notes of strawberries, cherry, a little raspberry, with that typical crunchy watermelon character. It’s dry as chips, yet there is texture and generosity, albeit with restraint and definition, as a result of the fine acidity and the contribution naturally of Sangiovese, which also adds a certain subtle rustic charm.”
