Description
Rochford Wines is a family owned winery in Victoria’s Yarra Valley. Their wines have earned great respect, being hand crafted using fruit sourced from three exceptional vineyards and, through great skill in their making, imparting a true expression of the ‘terroir’ of each site. Rochford endeavours to respectfully articulate the inherent influence of soils, seasons and favourable site-specific features. With a core focus on Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon, the reserve range features several ultra-premium single vineyard wines, each beautifully expressing the individuality of each site on which they are grown.
The grapes for this wine were handpicked with viticultural practices based around maintaining balance in the vineyards, sustainability and responsiveness to changing environmental conditions. Optimal conditions for both flowering and fruit set in the vineyards gave well balanced yields with plenty of promise leading into the 2019 harvest. A dry January and February followed, culminating in a relatively compressed vintage, though attention to detail in the vineyards gave winemakers wonderfully balanced fruit with concentration of flavour and exceptional natural acidity.

Anyway, it’s the structure I like most here, almost like a Langhe Nebbiolo in shape and feel of tannin, with its pleasing grip and dryness, in with that a mix of strawberry and red cherry, a little spice and perfume, and a shapely finish of fine length, a smattering of dried herb and orange peel on the finish. It’s a very good thing to drink.”
