Farr Rising Pinot Noir 2013

Description

Made by the pinot stars, Nick and Garry Farr of Geelong.  There is no difference in the actual handling of a By Farr and a Farr Rising wine.  Same techniques are used on each variety.  The only differences are percentage of new oak and whole bunch which is determined by vintage and flavour profile of the site.

Farr Rising pinot comes from an exposed site above the Farrside vineyard, planted in 2001 to clones 114 and 115.  This site was chosen for Farr Rising because of its expressive sweeter and more opulent fruit. The soil is predominately a sandy loam over limestone. Planted to a north facing slope, and orientation of east – west get receives full sun light on the bunches over the day. A vineyard that results in a wine that is less complicated and great drinkability. Over time the site has shown that it can certainly stand up to the bigger brothers and that is what we love about over delivering with this wine.
