Description
Pierluigi Talenti purchased the pian del Conte estate in the 1950s . As one of the most influential wine makers in Montalcino he was always a staunch traditionalist. During his time at the legendary Il Poggione estate he resisted the trend of rich, powerful wines and looked for elegance and finesse and continued this style at his own estate. Today his son Riccardo is in charge at the 40 hectare property of which approximately 20 hectares are under vine and looks after the estate with utmost respect for tradition while making subtle changes to express even further the subtleties of the 11 different plots. The vineyards are located at altitudes between 300 to 420 meters above sea level and the soil is sandy loam and galestro. 100% Sangiovese. The wines age in a mix of 500 litres and 25 hectoliter Slavonian Oak barrels.

Review of 2019:
91 points, Decanter Magazine ”With bright red currant aromas and pomegranate flavour, both completed by black pepper complexity and a smoky finish. The palate is almost full, while chewy and sweet, fine tannins lend perfect balance with refreshing acidity and a broad, cherry finish. Great definition.” – Aldo Fiordelli
