Sottimano farms 14 ha of the finest organic vineyards in the Village of Neive in the Barbaresco area. A family estate Andrea, Elena, and their father Rino tend to the vineyards and winemaking .
The wines from Sottimano are always beautifully perfumed with sweet spice, rose petals, and dark fruit. They are wines with structure built for the long term while always impeccably balanced.
2023 was an excellent growing season for Barbaresco albeit another warm season.. Fruit is all declassified Barbaresco fruit from prized Basarin Cru in Neive, 25 year old vines.. Super smart and serious Nebbiolo from this leading grower .. it’s medium to full bodied with fragrance, depth of fruit, structure and refinement. No doubt this fruit will go into Barbaresco before too long. Deservedly described as ‘Baby Barbaresco’. Do not miss out on this gorgeous Nebbiolo that cries out for food.

Pliant and expressive, the 2023 is a superb choice for readers looking for a wine that overdelivers. Macerated cherry, plum, lavender and blood orange open first. Exotic floral and spice overtones develop with a bit of time in the glass. More than anything else, I am so impressed with the wine’s textural depth and balance. The 2023 was done a modified, light style of submerged cap maceration for about a week that worked wonders, elevage was nine months in cask. And the young vines are now nearly 30 years old!”
