Description
Crafted by Pampas del Sur winery founded in 1926 located in Mendoza. Large vineyard 334 hectares in prime Medoza subregions of Uco Valley, Lujan & Maipu. Viticulture in Argentina is all about altitude – high altitude (above 1000 metres) equates to cooler temperatures, thin air and intense UV light. The Mendoza region is situated in a rain shadow (all the rain falls on the eastern Chilean side of the Andes so Argentina’s vineyards rely on irrigation from fresh snow melt from the Andes and hence no disease so minimal use of herbicides and pesticides).
No doubt large vineyard resources has enabled rigorous fruit selection to ensure only cream of the crop goes into this fine wine
Premium fruit 50% sourced from Uco Valley (1050 metres … this altitude with colder nights and mornings produce more fragrant high toned fruit) and 50% from Lujan de Cuyo (warmer site produces beautifully rich dark expression) followed by 6 months maturation in French oak.
Impressive full bodied offering. Richness and depth of plums, black fruits, more-ish savoury roast meat characters balanced by red fruits, refreshing thread of acidity and fine grained tannins (even at day 3 after opening the wine revealed layers – a sign of pedigree in a young wine) 13.5% Alcohol. Under cork.
