BK Wines from the Adelaide Hills is Brendon Keys, a freethinking frontier artisan wine-maker. His wines are cutting edge, yet they are the very definition of modern Australian quality wine making. Brendon does things a bit differently but always with great control and purpose. BK Wines are single vineyard, hand picked wines … organically grown using biodynamic practices, minimal intervention (including wild yeasts, no fining or filtering). Brendan’s makes wines of great character and finesse – not overblown and alcoholic and because of his fanaticism in the vineyard his wines give a true sense of terroir and the individual site, making each wine unique. BK wines are highly sought and sell out upon release. 2013 Awarded one of the Top Ten Dark Horses in the James Halliday Wine Companion and 5 Stars.
Evocative notes from winemaker Brendon Keys … “In 1985, when French artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude swathed the Pont-Neuf in miles of pleated, shimmering silk, the bulk and geometry of the great, stony bridge beneath was at once softened and emphasized. The wrapping had not obscured the magnificent structure, but rather brought into relief the solid, imposing force and historic importance of this stunning monument to Parisian prowess. Like silk over stone, Sparks 2013 Grenache, gently extracted from 100% whole-bunch fruit, is a gripping, full-throated wine which pays ample tribute to a vineyard long on tannic scaffolding. Feminine floral radiance and a sweet, attractive, plush exterior belie the full impact on the palate. The beguiling grin of a sly dominatrix before a memorable thwack across the cheek.”
