Dr John Lagan (hence the DJL) and his wife Eithne planted their first vines in 1977 in what is now considered one of the oldest vineyards in Margaret River. Xanadu now has a long history of producing wines of distinction, accolades and a reputation as one of the finest wineries in the region.
International wine guru, Jancis Robinson rightly said “Margaret River is the closest thing to paradise of any wine region I have visited …”with it’s stunning coastline, surf and fine wine.”

35% of the blend was Estate grown in the cool Wallcliffe sub-region, while the remainder comes from the warmer northern sub regions of mature vineyards to give the wine its power and more robust character. A touch of malbec, petit verdot and cab franc complete the vivid flavour spectrum.
Wow … this gorgeous cabernet has the goods .. classic cabernet characteristics of ripe blackcurrants, dark plums, tabacco leaf with subtle spicy elements. It has power, beautiful depth of fruit with supple, fine grained tannins and bright acidity. Heaven with a perfectly seared steak …. would be happy to pay $30 for a wine of this calibre.
95 points James Halliday 2016 Aust wine Companion … “includes 4% each of malbec and petit verdot, and 2% cabernet franc; crushed and destemmed, fermented 5-7 days, a significant amount of post-fermentation maceration, 14 months in French barriques (20% new). Brightly hued, it has lively cassis fruit married to almost spicy tannins and sympathetic oak.”
93+ points Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front “..The glory of well-made cabernet .. Impeccable balance ..”
