Description
Established in 2005 by winemaker Aldo Bratovic (had decades working with Brian Croser at Petaluma) and the Jebsen family, wine importer in Hong Kong and now China. This small boutique vineyard is located on the south eastern catchment of Wilyabrup creek in the locality of Cowaramup. As such it is approximately 30 kilometres north of the Margaret River town-ship and in what is regarded as the prime growing area for Cabernet Sauvignon. After 10 years of dedication and hard work it has become one of the rising stars of the region.
The Twinwoods Vineyard is primarily planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, which is divided into 4 individual blocks. The 4 blocks are harvested separately. Each block is picked, crushed and fermented separately, following which the wine is drained to 225 litre Fine Grained French oak from specific Bordeaux barrel makers and remains for 15 months.
Voted in Ten of the Best New Wineries in James Halliday’s 2017 Australian Wine Companion.
Beautiful aromas of cassis and cedar with lifted bright fruit. Super elegant with soft grainy tannins and a long balanced finish. New vintage has arrived!
94 points, Ray Jordan’s 2020 West Australian Wine Guide “Blackcurrant and savoury plum with bay leaf dominate on the nose. The palate displays both texture and intensity with grainy tannins and fine-grained oak supporting some quality fruit. Has a firm core which carries it through to a very long finish. I like this wine. Cellar 12 years.”
