What a first release of a straight cabernet under the Crossing label this is!! 2011 in Margaret River was a knock out growing season (unlike most places in the country). This classic Margaret River cabernet has gorgeous purity of fruit, line and length, fine grained tannins (it is basically declassified estate fruit – a touch more generous, less new French oak maturation and earlier drinking than the flagship estate). Do not miss out on this bargain. Alc 14%
93 points Ray Jordan “Winemaker Mark Messenger has chosen a pretty good vintage for the initial release of a Crossing cabernet. Plenty of ripe black currant fruit worked with French oak of which about 15 per cent was new. The result is a structured and powerful statement of the variety with a sense of style. Great value cabernet for medium term cellaring.”
91 points Gary Walsh “Blackcurrant and ripe blackberry, dusty vanilla oak and dark chocolate. Bit of a violet perfume too. It’s full bodied, fat with fleshy tannin, plenty of dark berry and dark chocolate and good length. Like the black olive tapanade sort of flavour on the finish.”
