Award winning family owned and operated boutique winery Frankland Estate is located in Frankland River, the coolest and most isolated wine-growing region in Western Australia. Warm days, cool nights (maritime influenced by the proximity to the Great Southern Ocean – means milder summers and winters) optimum ripening conditions, sustainable organic practices and a pristine pollution free environment are all contributing factors to the fine wines it produces.
Of the red wine varieties grown in the Isolation Ridge Vineyard the evidence suggests Isolation Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon is perhaps the most sensitive to the vineyard environment. This is reflected in wines with distinctive earthy, mineral qualities and rich, supple textured flavours. The vineyard sits on an undulating northern and eastern facing slope on ancient duplex soils of gravel and loam over a clay sub-soil. It is farmed using organic viticultural practices and this is reflected in the depth and concentration of fruit flavours. The vines are trained on a Scott Henry trellis system to enhance sunlight penetration of the canopy and optimize ripening conditions.
A blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Malbec organically grown fruit. Rich mixed berries and hints of cedar and herbs leap out of the glass. The palate is complex and focused balanced with fresh sweet mulberries and grainy mouth coating tannins that glide across the mouth. A classic cool climate Cabernet, elegant yet opulent reflecting both the vintage andmeticulous care taken in the vineyard and the winery.
