Description
Crawford River wines from Henty in South Western Victoria are crafted exclusively from hand-picked and selected fruit grown at their estate vineyard, whereupon they are vinified and bottled on site. The fruit is brought to the winery in small parcels, where meticulous attention is paid to detail. Patience and time are of the essence in their winery.
From the winery about this wine:
“Rich, black fruit notes and spice underpin the nose of this wine. Underlying this, there are liquorice elements together with dense black cherry and cassis. The palate provides fabulous, fine tannins throughout. Chalky texture and robust structure lend generous palate weight, while balanced, all-natural acidity assists with palate length and freshness. This wine, while a pleasure to drink now, will surely benefit from some years in bottle.
Winemaker Belinda Thompson has been honing her craft with Cabernet Sauvignon and this newly released 2013 is excellent.
94 points, Steve Creber for Halliday’s 2020 Australian Wine Companion “Classic cool climate cabernet every inch of the way. Blackcurrant, cedar, a hint of truffle and a dash of olive tapenade all in an elegant, medium-bodied frame. Feels like it’s ageing very surely, probably just now entering its optimum drinking window.”
