Their cellar is the oldest in the valley, with 5 generations still striving to innovate in their vineyards and to pioneer new terroirs in the Colchagua Valley In Chile. They have paved the way for the Carmenere varietal by extensive research studies on the different clones of the variety and different microterroirs in their vineyards. This exciting producer has championed Carmenere and also is the most awarded producer in Chile today …. si senor!
100% hand picked and sorted Carmenere, 85% aged in new French oak barrels for 12 months;15% in stainless steel tanks.
Intensly expressive nose with notes of ripe black & wild forest fruits, hint of pepper on the palate lovely depth of fruit, good structure, drive with more-ish fine grained tannins and long finish.. A seriously smart wine reminds me a little of fine cabernet… Do not miss out on discovering the joys of this fine expression of Carmenere !
91 points, Josh Reynolds, Vinous Media “Youthful violet. Highly perfumed aromas of ripe dark berries, cola, licorice and candied flowers, spiced with a peppery nuance. Fleshy, expansive blackberry, bitter cherry and violet pastille flavors display a suave blend of richness and energy, picking up a mineral flourish with air. Finishes juicy, sweet and very long, displaying lingering dark fruit character and slow-building tannins.”
