Hamelin Bay Wines from Margaret River in Western Australia continues to receive amazing reviews – especially for their Five Ashes range.
Gourmet Traveller has rated the 2005 Hamelin Bay Five Ashes Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon in the top 100 New Release Wines in the April May 2008 Issue, rated 93/100 by Huon Hook: “Lovely fragrant Cabernet Sauvignon fruit and stylish new oak show in the bouquet, while the palate is finely textured with glossy tannins and fleshy suppleness. From a good vintage for reds in southern Margaret River. 12 years.12 years cellaring potential”
Hook also raves about the Hamelin Bay Five Ashes Shiraz 2004 giving it too a 5 star rating and 93/100… “Minty, crushed-leaf and ripe berry aromas speak of a cooler climate shiraz, but there’s nothing unripe here: the palate is deep and powerful, with firm structure and flesh, sweet fruit followed by a long finish. 12 years plus cellaring potential”.
