Dan Berger reviewed it as Exceptional. Dan Berger’s Vintage Experiences 30 October 2008 Issue 37

“2006 Groom Shiraz, Barossa Valley : Blueberry and spice aroma, hints of unsweetened cocoa.Blackberry mid-palate and perfect tannin structure. A wine that gives Grange a run for the money—and you can buy eight bottles of this wine for the price of one Grange.”

GROOM Shiraz Barossa Valley 2006 Score: 91
Dark in color and flavor, with black cherry and blackberry fruit coursing through20from the first sip to the long, lively finish. The tannins are well-integrated, and the wine feels juicy, deftly balancing the fruit with refreshing acidity and a hint of smoke. Drink now through 2016. 1,358 cases imported. —H.S.

oom 2006 Shiraz
This wine is poised to become Australia’s next cult Shiraz. (No surprise that it is made by the man responsible for producing Penfolds’ Grange from ’84-’90.) A nose of black cherry, currant and cocoa precedes a bowl of black fruit flavors, dusty tannins and pleasantly biting acid. Restrained by Aussie standards, underlying leather and anise keep the Shiraz grounded.
