Bird in Hand Wines from Adelaide Hills in South Australia have just received the coveted ‘Red 5 Star’ rating from James Halliday’s best-selling annual Australian Wine Companion 2010.   Halliday is regarded as our country’s leading authority on the Australian wine industry.   This years annual contains reviews of 5884 wines and profiles on 1467 Australian wineries so to receive this accolade is an outstanding achievement!

Here’s what Bird in Hand had to say…

“We are thrilled to tell you that we have received a ‘Red 5 Star’ rating and an impressive 8 Bird in Hand wines have been awarded 90 points or more out of a possible 100.  The ‘Red 5 Star’ Award is a highly coveted recognition bestowed only on outstanding wineries which regularly produce wines of excellent quality.  Recipients must have had at least two wines rated 94 points or above, and the winery must have had a 5 star rating for the previous two years.

The ‘Red 5 Star’ rating places Bird in Hand in the top bracket of Australian wineries and the range of wines which received scores in the ‘nineties’ is further testament to Bird in Hand’s commitment to producing world class wines.

 Among the high point scoring wines are the 2007 Nest Egg Shiraz – 94 points, 2008 Nest Egg Chardonnay – 95 points,  2007 Two in the Bush Merlot Cabernet – 93 points.
