Bird in Hand tasting a successful fundraiser for Bronte Surf Club

Rhys Connery from The Vine Press has lived in Bronte for 10 years where he swims every morning and is passionate about the beach and marine life.  On the 27th May 2010, the Vine Press hosted a wine tasting fund raiser for the Bronte Surf Club, showcasing the wines of Bird in Hand from Adelaide Hills.

Bird in Hand’s wines, set up by Andrew Nugent, formerly of Tatachilla, are a family owned wine and olive producer. Their aim is to produce full flavoured, yet finely structured and elegant wines to reflect the quality of the Adelaide Hills region. They are doing something right – winning awards and trophies galore! James Halliday (Australia’s leading and most respected wine write ) rates them in Australia’s top 7% of wineries with a 5 red star winery rating.

Winemaker Justin Nugent was on hand to take guests through Bird in Hand‘s award winning wines, olive oils and olives.   A great turn out by Bronte locals and friends ensured a fun night was had by all with The Vine Press donating a percentage of sales back to the Surf Club.  This will go towards purchasing Rescue Boards and Nippers Boards.
