“I can’t think of too many estates in Piedmont that have raised the bar higher than Vietti has over the last decade or so. Virtually every wine that emerges from these cellars is outstanding, and many are profound … an unprecedented level of consistency and quality across their entire range.” Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media
For the past four generations, the Vietti family has been producing wine in Castiglione Falletto, a small village in the heart of the Langhe region of Piedmont, from their vineyards located across the five communes designated for the cultivation and production of Barolo. Over recent years Luca Currado-Vietti had taken over the winemaking direction from his late father Alfredo. The overall objective, to produce the highest quality wines, whilst retaining respect for the traditions of the specific appellations.
About this wine: 100% Timorasso. The grapes are grown in various vineyard sites located in and around Monleale with a southeastern- southwestern exposure. The soil is rich in limestone and clay. Fruit spends 10 months in ceramic vessels, stainless steel tanks and large oak casks on the fine lees.
Clear, intense yellow colour with green hues. On the nose fruit scents of pear and peach and floral nuances of acacia and hawthorn. Typical honey notes. After 2-3 years, the mineral notes are more intense and sometimes emphasized by the typical scent of hydrocarbon which refines the wine. On the palate the wine is dry, warm, soft, and very well balanced, without any edges. It has a long lingering finish with good fresh acidity.
96 points, James Suckling “A layered wine with assertive leesy aromas of lemon peel, lemon leaves, spring flowers, green apples and chalky minerality. Silky texture with zesty acidity, a medium body and a bright, savory finish. Good extraction and an amazing white peach aftertaste. Drink or hold.” Dec 2025
93 points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media “The 2023 Timorasso is a blend from Vietti’s holdings in three distinct zones within the Derthona appellation. Deep, rich and phenolic, the 2023 is a textured, resonant wine. Peach, apricot, chamomile and dried flowers fill out the layers. It’s a rich, heady white for the dinner table. Floral and citrus overtones lift the finish.”
