Duane Coates from McLaren Vale has come up trumps with the Coates The Syrah 2010. James Halliday rated it 94 points and wrote .. “Dense purple-crimson, clear and bright on the rim, although neither fined or filtered; certainly comes from the big end of town, full-bodied and effusive, yet not clumsy; black fruits of every description, licorice, bitter chocolate and a nice dab of oak from 20 months in barrel all work very well, tannins providing the bow to tie the parcel.”
