Description
Owned by the Ladoucette family since 1788, the Domaine De Ladoucette is the largest and most famous holding in the Pouilly area. The 165 hectare vineyard accounts for 10% of the production of the Pouilly-Fume appellation and the stunning Château du Nazet dominates the countryside. The estate is acclaimed at producing some of the finest Sauvignon Blancs in the region, in particular the top cuvee, Baron de L, a wine only produced in the top vintages from the best parcels of fruit of the estate. Pale, vivid and flinty these are terroir-driven wines and the Baron de L in particular is renowned for its ability to age.
Sourced from the hilltop town of Sancerre where soils are rich with flint, gravel and limestone. Aged in steel tank, this is a classic Sancerre with delicate white flowers, citrus fruits and minerals.
Pale golden-green. Remarkable and aromatic intensity on the nose. Floral notes of white flowers such as hawthorn, acacia, eglantine, and elderflower. This is backed up by blackcurrant buds and wild flowers. It is lively on the palette, with very pleasant acidulous characteristics prolonged by light fruity notes. Full and refreshing, it is dominated by flinty stones and chalk typical of fine Sancerre wines. Pair this wine with shellfish, seafood and goat cheeses.
91 points, Kristen Bieler, Wine Spectator “A richly styled version, with a beautiful mix of sweet lemon, chamomile and dried thyme flavors that take on a creamy feel on the palate. Reveals sea salt and dried hay accents, with fresh scallion notes on the savory, well-cut finish. Drink now through 2027.”
91 points, Wine Enthusiast ““This is a bright, mineral-driven Sancerre with flinty aftershocks. The nose suggests green apple, brioche, crushed shells, toast and white blossom. On the palate, racy acidity rests on a limestone base that enhances florality.”
