Karridale in Margaret River’s south is generally regarded as the best region for whites in Margaret River. The Drake Brockman family at Hamelin Bay wines have excelled with this zesty blend (51% Semillon and 49% sauvignon blanc). From the winemaker: “Citrus, lime and floral characters fill the nose, with hints fragrant herbs and vanilla in the background … shows lovely poise, elegance and balance .. with a dry mineral finish. Some barrel fermentation and wild fermentation has added complexity and texture to the palate. This very classy effort is a bargain!
92 pts James Halliday “Light, bright quartz-green; has distinct cut and drive from the semillon, with unsweetened lemon and grass, the sauvignon blanc coming on board to add gooseberry and lychee notes.”
