Description
A native of Beine in the Chablis region, Christophe Patrice began working in the family business with his father and uncles in 1996. In 2006 he started his own venture with five hectares of vines. In 2011 he acquired the Daniel Roblot estate increasing his holdings to 22 hectares with an average vine age of 50-70 years. Today the domain has parcels in the communes of Beine, Courgis and Chablis and produces Petit Chablis, Chablis and Chablis Premier Cru Beauregard.
The vineyards are planted at a low density of 5 800 vines per hectare and managed following a lutte raisonnée (sustainable) regimen. For Christophe, Chardonnay expresses itself in Chablis like nowhere else, so he insists on vinifying his wines entirely in stainless steel tanks to preserve their typicity and freshness.
About this wine: 100 % Chardonnay from vines ranging in age from 40 to 70 years. The fruit is whole-bunch pressed to stainless steel tanks for a cool fermentation with indigenous yeast. Malolactic conversion is completed with indigenous bacteria and the wine is matured on fine lees in tank for 4 months prior to bottling.
Golden yellow in colour, with an elegant, mineral‑driven nose with hints of hazelnut and peach. The palate is subtle and refined, showing gentle white‑fruit notes and finishing with impressive length and finesse.
Reveiw for 2022 ‘One only needs to stand at the top of this Climat of Chablis Premier Cru to appreciate the view and understand the origin of its name. It is only from inside the valley that Les Beauregard shows itself, on the left bank. From the first glance, the way its slope directly faces the sun is quite impressive. Despite this rather southern exposure, Les Beauregards remains a cool Climat due to its topography and its location at the bottom of the valley. The clay soils are shallow and the limestone marl never far away. Its stony and well-draining soil facilitates the circulation of water. Les Beauregards is a flag-bearing Climat on the left bank that encompasses the Climat of Côte de Cuissy. Together they cover around 20 hectares.’ Chablis-Wines.com
