Description
“Canberra is an exciting region at the moment. and there are many new players hitting unthinkable heights of quality. Winemaker Nick Spencer has demonstrated “ across a whole range of styles and prices “ that Eden Road Wines is a force to be reckoned with. “ Nick Stock, The Age/SMH Good Wine Guide.
The Eden Road wines all derive primarily from the ACT/NSW “High Country” regions of Canberra District, Hilltops, Gundagai and Tumbarumba. Eden Road is supposed to suggest an ideal (as in the Garden of Eden), not a place.

The fruit for this Pinot Gris is grown on a vineyard just north of the Murrumbateman Village. The vineyard lies at an altitude of 630 metres above sea level on an ancient de composed granite belt, running along both sides of the Barton Highway. This is an excellent site for achieving ripe Pinot Gris with balanced acid. We believe the 2014 Pinot Gris is a wine suited to many occasions one that will happily sit amongst friends in the sun and enjoyed with a vast array of food.
Immediately there is an alluring nature to this wine due to the striking coral pink colour. The nose has lifted aromas of smashed strawberries. poached pear and white peach. There is considerable bright exotic fruit up front before flowing on to a beautiful, textural palate with a lively yet precise finish. This red skinned variety is handpicked and de stemmed at the winery, then left to cold soak on skins for 36 hours which is the catalyst for the abundant colour extraction. This extended time on skins also allows for greater extraction of texture into the juice. To ensure the wine didn’t become too textural and brooding in structure, a stainless steel tank fermentation was undertaken leaving the wine with texture, fruit weight and acid in wonderful balance!
