Description
We were highly impressed with this Grand Marque champagne that we tasted recently blend of equal parts Pinot Noir. Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay and undergoes full malolactic fermentation which gives it a creamy polished characterer. This top shelf aperitif style champagne brims with citrus and minerality and has terrific persistence of flavour and balance.
Located in the village of Ay. one of Champagne ‘s historic and most renowned terroirs. Deutz was founded in 1838 by William Deutz with Pierre Hubert Geldermann. Today Deutz is under the leadership of Fabrice Rosset and owned by another family owned house. Champagne Louis Roederer. who purchased it in 1993. The Deutz style is based on perfectly controlled blends. almost 80% of these coming from “Grand Cru ” and “Premier Cru ” villages
Review by Robert Parker ™s right hand man. Antonio Galloni
Admittedly it has been a few years since I last tasted the Deutz Champagnes. so I was not fully prepared for the consistently outstanding quality of virtually all these new releases. Although Deutz has been owned by Roederer since 1992. this is the only property in the group that is run in an autonomous fashion. as the Rouzaud family didn ™t want to risk losing the estate ™s unique identity by consolidation winemaking functions. The Deutz Champagnes undergo full malolactic fermentation and at their best offer a polished. creamy style that drinks well early but that can also age. These new releases from Deutz are all recommended .The NV Brut Classic is a pretty wine. Warm. generous fruit comes together beautifully in this rich. expansive. mid weight Champagne. The bouquet. texture and purity of the finish are all first rate. 90 points. ANTONIO GALLONI. The Wine Advocate
