The Catena family arrived in Argentina. ( the promised land ) in 1898 from Italy and the family has had 4 generations of winemaking. Nicolas Catena is regarded as the ‘ godfather ‘ of modern winemaking (experimenting with clones) and in the 1980 ™s pioneered viticulture at high altitude the key to making premium wine in Mendoza . They are the largest and most respected winemaking familiy in Argentina.
