Trophy for Best Sparkling at the Orange Wine Show 2019.

Printhie Wines, established in 1996 is owned by the Swift family is a 5 Star rated Halliday winery in the high altitude, cool climate Orange region of NSW.

Swift is Printhie’s “méthode traditionnelle” sparkling brand made from the highest vineyards in NSW on the slopes of the extinct volcano Mt Canobolas. This elite range of sparkling has been handcrafted by world class winemaker Drew Tuckwell.  Exceptional winemaking, cool climate craftsmanship and luxury of time has created a trophy winning range of sparkling wine.

Their passion for sparkling is demonstrated by the patience required to ensure each bottle of Swift Sparkling has been aged to perfection before release. Spending at least 5 years on lees with some up to 10 years for our flagship Blanc de Blancs.

Printhie have set out to craft a premium sparkling range that reflects French Champagne and raises the bar for Australian cool climate sparkling. It is widely acknowledged that the best sparkling wines in Australia hail from cool climate regions and the climatic conditions of Orange are perfect for growing premium Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir.
Their dedication, patience and unwavering commitment to create beautiful sparkling wines is being recognised across Australia – acclaimed by Australia’s Champagne expert, Tyson Stelzer, as ‘the best sparkling wine brand in NSW’ and inducted into his Sparkling Hall of Fame in 2016. In the last four years alone, the range has won 10 trophies and over 60 awards. Currently it’s the best sparkling in NSW having been awarded Best Sparkling at the NSW Wine awards for the last two years running.

Hand picked fruit is gently handled and blended to create a range of premium sparkling wines now regarded as some of the best in Australia. Extended lees aging is a feature of the wines, rewarding with complexity yet retaining freshness and vibrancy.

Sourced from a single vineyard with 2 different chardonnay blocks and 2 different pinot noir blocks, all hand harvested, whole bunch pressed, fermented & matured separately until blending. MLF is minimal to preserve acidity and freshness. Tirage bottled just before spring following vintage.

About this wine from the winemaker: “Swift hails from the elevated slopes of Orange, NSW. The cool climate and elevated vineyard sites are perfect for the production of traditional method sparkling wines. Hand picked fruit is gently handled and blended to create a range of premium sparkling wines now regarded as some of the best in Australia. Extended lees ageing is a feature of the wines, rewarding with complexity yet retaining freshness and vibrancy.

“After 6 years on lees this wine has developed wonderful complexity. Now that it has been disgorged it will continue to develop, but down a different road – more along the lines of typical bottle maturation (i.e. less bright fruit flavours, more autolytic, savoury characters). It should drink well as it continues to evolve over the next 5 years.

“Our 9th disgorgement of Swift Rose is almost an even split of Chardonnay (49%) and Pinot Noir (51%), with just a touch more Pinot Noir right at the end as the dosage. It has a bright strawberries and cream nose with a nice savoury finish. A perfect aperitif, Swift Rose goes well with smoked salmon or fresh prawns.

Dosage: 6.0g/L Tirage date: September 2016 Disgorge date: July 2022″

Super impressive Rose sparkling offering here.

92 points, 2024 Halliday Australian Wine Companion”.. The lightest rose gold in the glass with blush reflections. Rainer cherries, cranberries and Alpine strawberries. Succulent sweetness to the fruit with present acidity. A hint of strawberry yoghurt creaminess and a pleasant chalky texture.”

93 points, Tyson Stelzer, 2020 Australian Sparkling ReportBrimming with spice, stone fruits, plums, ginger and fig, leading out rich and voluptuous this is a cuvée that pulls confidently into a very long finish of focused, cool vintage Orange acidity. Just when you fear the finish is going to be too broad and globular, it streams out into a beautiful close of tension, freshness and focus. With a pale salmon orange hue, it’s layered with caramel and fruit mince spice, even more toasty and complex thanks to longer on lees and a little less dosage. It concludes with a finale of impressive line and length.”
