Description
In this fine selection of rosés you will get 1 bottles of each of the following 6 wines:-
2 x Pittnauer Blaufrankisch Rosé
We love this delicious Austrian Rosé from leading husband and wife winemakers, the Pittnauers (2014 Winemaker of the Year by Falstaff magazine the highest accolade in Austrian wine!) “This savoury Austrian expression of the blaufränkisch variety has a nutty and marginally confectionery bouquet of red cherries and flowers backed by a hint of cranberry and marzipan. It’s long, smooth and savoury, with juicy, almost sour-edged raspberry and red cherry fruit punctuated by refreshingly bright acids and underscored by a fine, dusty extract.” Gourmet Traveller Wine (RRP $28 .. Our Price $23.99)
2 x Coates La Petite Rosé 2016
This fine rosé, 100% Pinot Noir, hails from the cool clime of Kuipto in Adelaide Hills. Lovely depth of red fruits with plenty of savoury texture and balance. Typical of Duane Coates quest to over-deliver with this reserve style (benefits from decanting and cries out for food). Previous vintage was marketed at $30 so we are in absolute bargain territory here! “… pale pinkish Pinot noir this time. This is probably the whitest-smelling of the trio. Apart from some totally disarming strawberry, it’s all prickly summery dust. And it’s dry as a crow’s caaaaark. And oh yes there’s that rosey rise of turkish delight. And the nuts and maraschino of fresh soft nougat. Lime pith. Opium den. Smoked salmon, fennel, sour cream, capers. Swoon city. See, it doesn’t really smell white. It smells pink. Plush silky pink. My courtier advises me men are hot into pink right now. I’m a goner.” Phillip White, drinkster.blogspot.com (RRP $30 … Our Price $18.99)
2 x Domaine Philippe Collotte Marsannay Rosé 2015
Marsannay Rosé is a long-standing cultural tradition in Burgundy with Marsannay (just South of Dijon a couple of villages past Gevrey-Chambertin) being the only village to have the appellation for a rosé. Philippe Collotte has taken over the family holdings (one of the original old families of Marsannay) of fully mature vineyards in prime position above the village. 100% Pinot Noir made from 75% direct press and 25% of blend after 36 hour maceration of fruit. This wine is gorgeously fresh and balanced, with fragrance of stone fruit, strawberries and citrus and bursting with red fruits. Depth of fruit on palate, finishes dry with lip-smacking acid. Sante! (RRP $32 … Our Price $27.99)
2 x Spinifex Rosé 2017
54% Grenache, 18% Cinsault, 28% Mataro. In spite of the relentless proliferation of rosé on the market, Pete Schell’s wine – now into its second decade of production – is as ever a winner! The fruit hails from a range of dry grown Barossa vineyards, “mainly bush vines, all hand-picked – old school,” chuckles Pete. In short, sites selected for their ability to produce outstanding quality rosé material (the average age of vines is 65 though the oldest parcels up to 120 years of age). Grapes are hand-picked and crushed bunches were macerated for between 6 and 24 hours prior to pressing before the wine was fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured on lees prior to bottling. Approximately 10% was matured in old French oak puncheon, the rest in tank. Bottled without filtration, the resulting wine offers the kind of vibrant perfume, texture and crunchy line that were once the exclusive domaine of Provençal rosé. Pulpy fruit, crunchy raciness and a thirst slaking finish. It doesn’t get much better than this. (RRP $30 … Our Price $24.99)
2 x Hamelin Bay Rosé 2016
Karridale in Margaret River’s cooler south is generally regarded as the premium region for whites and rosés in Margaret River. The Drake Brockman family at Hamelin Bay wines have excelled here with this zesty rosé made from merlot. Some yeast lees contact has given this some textural interest to this dry style. This mouthful of juicy nectarine and a squeeze of lemon is hard to beat for quality and price! 12.9% Alc. Bronze medal winner at both Perth Royal Wine Show and Royal Adelaide Wine Show. (RRP $21 … Our Price $16.99)
2 x Verget du Sud Mediterranee Rosé 2015
Jean-Marie Guffens is sometimes called a genius white wine maker after having received the exclusive 3 star ranking in Le Classement, France’s most respected wine publication (achieved by only 56 domaines out of 1300!) with his white burgundy. He now is driven to achieve the same reputation for his Provençal, southern French rosé. This comes from two limestone-rich vineyards in Apt, high in the Provençal hinterland, selected, managed and harvested specifically for the rosé. The wines were fermented and aged in Guffen’s horizontal stainless fermeters, on lees, for eight months with a little saignée juice blended for textural complexity. The ’15 is a layered, racy and mineral Provençal style with silky ripe berry and crushed, fresh herb notes, a deliciously chewy texture, and a long tangy close. Can Jean-Marie Guffens do no wrong!? More-ish and very hard to stop drinking and a fabulous bargain for lovers of Provençal rosé. (RRP $30 … Our Price $23.99)
