Margaret River is Australia’s most spectacular wine region with breathtaking coastline, Karri forests and maritime climate perfectly suited to premium grape growing. 100% estate grown fruit Howard Park makes beautiful wines with depth of fruit, balance and structure that overdeliver across the board.
This Cabernet Sauvignon from their Abercrombie vineyard, located in the Mount Barker sub region of the Great Southern, is crafted to highlight the distinctive varietal and regional qualities of our best sites.
From the winemakers: In the cooler, continental climate of the Mount Baker region, our north facing, elevated sites, capture ample sun to fully ripen Cabernet. The fruit notes, reminiscent of a briary hedgerow, are ever so slightly untamed. Fragrant sweet spice, cocoa and creamy oak give a coddling warmth and dimension to this wild fruit character. More fine than full-bodied, the palate’s soft, plush red fruits give richness of flavour while the fine tannins build length and structure. The 2016 Howard Park Cabernets are defined by long ripe flavours, supple tannins, balance and elegance.

“Fruit from Block 1B of the Abercrombie vineyard in Mount Barker, the Houghton clone planted 1976. Matured in French oak for 18 months (25% new). This has got a really lovely texture to it. The fruit flavour is very restrained, but the tannins are slightly chewy and very fine, so there’s a bit to get your mouth around. A lovely cabernet that will be best drunk in the short–medium term. Classy.”
