Description
Margaret River produces Australia’s finest Cabernet Sauvignon. Hamelin Bay is in the (cooler) Karridale sub-region, in the southern parts of the Margaret River region. The estate is owned by the Drake-Brockman family who have long pioneering roots in the area dating back to early settlement by the Bussell family in 1830.
Top shelf cabernet brimming with cassis, cherry, cigar box. Beautiful and elegant with a supremely long finish. Fruit sourced from top site in north western section of vineyard comprised of gravelly soils. A touch of malbec (5%) was added for fleshiness, mid palate weight and perfume. 50% maturation in new French oak (top shelf Bordeaux coopers renowned for its tight grain.) 2011 was an excellent growing season in Margaret River. Winery recommends optimum drinking now until 2022 but it will go further into the future…
Inspired by the fine wines of Bordeaux this will age for at least 20 years.
