Description
Crawford River wines from Henty in South Western Victoria are crafted exclusively from hand-picked and selected fruit grown at their estate vineyard, whereupon they are vinified and bottled on site. The fruit is brought to the winery in small parcels, where meticulous attention is paid to detail. Patience and time are of the essence in their winery. Leading light in terms of quality estate grown fruit and premium wines of top notch caliber.

70% Cab Sav, 30% Cab Franc/Merlot.
As usual, each individual block was separately picked, destemmed and fermented in open fermenters. About a week cold soak was carried out prior to some carbonic followed by the alcoholic fermentation. Cool fermentation in open fermenters then pressed to tank for end of ferment and malo inoculation. Racked to barrel to complete malolactic fermentation. No further movement prior to blending in June 2016. No additions. Not stabilised or fined. Coarse filtered at bottling. 1 years in French Oak.
The palate shows dense fruit weight, with black cherry and blackberry together with undertones of allspice. Supple tannins give added structure to the intense palate while the natural acidity aids freshness and length, making this wine a pleasure to drink. Alc 13.5%

It has a gamey, leathery quality that makes you think it should be consumed sooner rather than later, even though the run of blackcurrant, milk chocolate and cedar wood characters are (entirely) attractive, the tannin is fine and the refreshing lining of acidity should help keep it in good shape.”
