Teusner MC Sparkling Shiraz 2018

What a wine from leading Barossa winemaker Kym Teusner!  Base wine comprises top shelf old vine single vineyard shiraz south of Tanunda followed by 2 years in French oak and 2 years on lees in bottle to create a fine and pesrsistent bead. More-ish dry style and has the structure to age and develop for at least a decade. Forget the cranberry sauce this is the perfect accompaniment to the roast turkey!

Kym Teusner says about this vintage  “Built for Bacon’…..that could well apply to most of the staff here at Teusner Wines but we believe that Sparkling Shiraz came into being as early man began to ponder the age old question.. “What to drink with breakfast”. That’s not to restrict ourselves to the first meal of the day of course. You can crack open a bottle of Teusner Sparkling Shiraz whenever you need a lift or have something to celebrate. It is a versatile food wine (try on Christmas Day with ham!) or is a pleasure to drink just on its own .. only pick the best Barossa Shiraz vineyards for this wine, so no surprise we headed to our Albert blocks to source the fruit for this wine. We go easy on the dosage also….aiming for a savoury, pure fruit driven style with fine tannins guiding you to an elegant finish. With extended time on lees the resulting wine, I’m sure you will agree, is delicious drinking and will continue to improve in the cellar over the medium term.”

A big, rich, generous style of sparkling shiraz with a touch of opulence, ripe flavours and very soft but present tannins. Sweetness is nicely balanced. A top example of the style.”
