Description

Egly-Ouriet is one of the reference-point growers in Champagne, with a deep selection of wines that offer remarkable transparency to site, vintage and variety … These are among the most pure, unmanipulated Champagnes readers will come across, and the estate’s new releases are all highly recommended.” Antonio Galloni, The Wine Advocate

This is 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay from 40 year-old vines in Ambonnay. The wine was aged completely in barrel, no malo and less than 2 g/l dosage. Close to 9 years on lees in bottle!

This is looking stupendous; luxuriously creamy with hints of honey — distinctive of the great Pinot vintages. It’s mesmerizingly fresh and compact, long as anything and the finish is lingering and complex.   This extraordinary champagne will age very well.

17.5 points, Julia Harding, jancisrobinson.com, Oct 2015 “106 months on lees, disgorged mid 2015. Honey and butterscotch aroma. Apricot brioche – smells like a pâtisserie in the best way!   Full and rich but so fresh, deeply, richly flavoured wth toasty breadth. Long and satisfying – a meal in itself.  And all kept youthful by a sour freshness at the very finish.”

92 points, Alison Napjus, Wine Spectator “Hints of marzipan, baking spice, dried apricot and smoked almond enrich this creamy Champagne, while citrus-tinged acidity provides balance and a lingering, well-knit finish. Drink now through 2025.”
