“Meticulous attention to farming and winemaking places Agrapart at or near the top of Champagne’s finest artisan growers. These remain some of the most fascinating wines in the region. Pascal Agrapart embodies the best of the artisan tradition in Champagnes. and his wines show it.” Antonio Galloni, The Wine Advocate
Pascal Agrapart (makes a minuscule 6000 cases a year) so his wines are very difficult to find but he is up there with the finest artisan champagne producers. The most respected french wine publication, La Revue du Vin de France rates Agrapart the coveted 3 star rating of Le Classement (only 7 in Champagne) alongside the greats Krug, Selosse, Egly Ouriet, (to give you an understanding of this achievement only 73 domaines out of a total 1500 of the top domaines in France get the coveted 3 star rating)
Terroirs is produced from only great sites and is 100% Grand Cru. The fruit comes from four villages in the Côte des Blancs: Avize, Cramant, Oger and Oiry, with vines on average 40 years of age. This release is a blend of 2014 (40%) with a remarkable 60% reserve wine. After a natural fermentation, half of the wine was matured in large format, neutral oak and spent up to 48 months on lees. Dosage was limited to 5 g/L and disgorgement carried out by hand.
These standards (like the viticulture) are far higher than any Grande Marque prestige cuvée we know of, making this wine an undeniable bargain. Emblematic of the lacy depth and purity that Pascal Agrapart channels into all his wines, it is a wonderfully textured, pulpy and vibrant study of Côte des Blancs greatness. It is also utterly delicious–“flat-out stunning” indeed–and also one of Champagne’s most compelling wines.
94 points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous “The NV Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Terroirs is positively brilliant. Citrus, white flowers, crushed rocks and mint are all finely sketched in this super-expressive Champagne from Agrapart. Readers who want to get a sense of what the Agrapart Champagnes are all about without investing in some of the higher-end bottlings will want to check out the Terroirs. Weightless and chiseled in the glass, with pedigree to burn, the Terroirs is flat-out stunning, not to mention a fabulous wine in its peer group. The Terroirs is sourced from parcels in Avize, Oger, Cramant and Oiry.”
94 points, William Kelley, The Wine Advocate “Disgorged in April 2019 with four grams per liter dosage, Agrapart’s NV Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Terroirs is a blend of 40% 2015 and 60% 2014 and derives from old vines that are around 50 or 60 years old. Mingling notes of citrus oil and white flowers with hints of crushed chalk and rock salt, it’s medium to full-bodied, racy and incisive, with a satiny attack that segues into a ripe and vinous but chalky, tight-knit core”
