Englishman Matthew Jukes, winner of the prestigious Wine & Spirit competition’s Communicator of the Year Trophy calls Kilikanoon’s Prodigal Grenache 2005 “woefully underatted.. at a staggeringly good price”.
I couldn’t agree more. That’s why we stock it at The Vine Press.
Here’s a bit of what he wrote….
“Strap yourself in for a roller coaster ride, because this spectacular wine is a white knuckle treat…. This dense, dark brooding red is made from the woefully underrated red grape Grenache…. Grenache forms the engine room of Chateauneuf du Papes, and it is this complex flavour spectrum and inert power that Prodigal Grenache has in spades….. You must decant it because there is a lot of energy in this wine that needs to be organised, ordered and aligned in a decanter before you dive in…… I tasted it last week and went back to it over the next 3 days and it kept opening up and revealing more and more layers of crushed plum and spice… Staggering value for money, this is a wine that is drinking beautifully now, but has five or more years ahead of it to perform wonders for you.”
Apart from the Prodigal Grenache which is available for $29.99, check out other fantastic Kilikanoon treats at The Vine Press.
