Torzi Matthews Schist Rock Riesling 2008 is now in stock at The Vine Press.  I'm a big fan of Torzi's reds but their Riesling is a cracker.    Here's a review from Gary Walsh from Winefront.  He writes:-

"A new Schist on the block and pretty handy wine too.   It smells of cut apple, faint citrus, some mineral and bit of honeysuckle. On the palate it lacks real Eden finesse and focus but has good flavour. It tastes of apple, a bit of citrus and again that minerality but it’s pretty much soft and easy going with some attractive textural grip to compensate. In short, it’s good to drink young with a low risk of ‘weaned on dill pickle face’ syndrome cropping up during those vital social engagements… . It’s obviously a warm year wine and I’d say a good drinking dry white first and foremost rather than a racy Riesling, but none the worse for that."

Kilikanoon Covenant Clare Valley Shiraz 2006 has scored 92 points from James Halliday in his definitive guide to the wine industry the Australian Wine Companion 2010. He wrote: "Bright colour; the oak sits apart from the fruit at this point, but there is polished blueberry and spice on the bouquet; ample levels of sweet fruit, the finish is dry and very firm. 92 points." Kilikanoon Oracle Clare Valley Shiraz 2006 scored 92 points from James Halliday in his recently released edition of the Australian Wine Companion 2010. He wrote: "A little reduction, but very good concentration of fruit; dark plum, spice, blackberry and tar; the palate is multilayered and abounds with a dark fruit core; chewy and long, with ironstone on the finish.  92 points."  James Halliday

Kilikanoon Mort's Block Watervale Riesling 2008 has scored 93 points from James Halliday in his definitive guide to the wine industry, the Australian Wine Companion 2010. He wrote: "Pale straw-green; the clean bouquet leads into a highly focused palate with a core of lime citrus fruit and almost juicy acidity on the finish.  93 points."    James Halliday.

Wise Wine Eagle Bay Margaret River Shiraz 2006 has scored 94 points from James Halliday in his definitive guide to the wine industry, the Australian Wine Companion 2010. He wrote: "Deep, dark and concentrated, with a very attractive cool and spicy perfume; medium bodied, savoury and with lovely gravelly tannins rounding out a long, fresh and harmonious finish.  94 points."  James Halliday

Wise Wine Shiraz 2007 has scored 94 points from James Halliday in this years edition of his definitive guide to the wine industry, the Australian Wine Companion 2010. He wrote: "Densely coloured; intense, spicy blackberry fruit aromas lead into a striking, full-bodied palate, with deep fruit and licorice supported by ripe tannins. Will be very long lived.  94 points." James Halliday

Wise Wine Reserve Pemberton Chardonnay 2007 has scored 94 points from James Halliday in this years edition of the Australian Wine Companion 2010. He wrote: "There is, indeed, a touch of custard apple to the bouquet, as suggested by the back label; the palate is complex, with some creamy/nutty overtones to the nectarine and citrus fruit; very good length.  94 points. Wise Wine Eagle Bay Margaret River Semillon Sauvignon Blanc 2008 has scored 95 points in James Hallidays recently released Australian Wine Companion. He wrote:   A great example of a barrel-fermented Semillon/Sauvignon Blanc which, despite fermentation in new French oak, is primarily driven by the long and incisive citrus and gooseberry fruit, finishing with cleansing acidity.  95 points. Teusner The Astral Series Barossa Valley Moppa Mataro 2006 has scored 95 points from James Halliday in his recently released Australian Wine Companion 2010. He wrote:  "A seriously dark wine, full of licorice, blackberry fruit, earth and ironstone; dense and concentrated, with strong chewy tannins which are completely ripe and in balance with the fruit; exceptionally complex, with many years ahead, which is presumably why it is in a bottle that can withstand an atomic blast. 95 points. James Halliday."

Delatite Wines from Victoria have won two trophies at Australia's most prestigious Wine Show, the Royal Adelaide Wine Show. Delatite won the Trophy for Best Riesling for their Delatite Riesling 2006 and the Trophy for Best White from other Variety for their Dead Man's Hill Gewurztraminer 2008.    Not bad for a small boutique winery from the wilds of alpine Victoria to be up there with the biggies such as Wolf Blass, Hardys and Yalumba.
