Description
Founded in 1879 Domaine Dubreuil-Fontaine is run by fifth generation winemaker Christine Dubreuil. It is located on the hillside of the historic town of Pernand-Vergelesses in the Cotes de Beaunes. The Domaine owns 20 hectares of vines spread across some twenty appellations across the Cote de Beaune. Hand Picking with sorting as required. Pinot is completely destemmed followed by five days of cold maceration before fermentation. New oak is used but is kept to about 35% for the Grand Crus. Since Christine has taken over quality has improved markedly by this estate.
What a very smart offering considering some challenges for the growing season … destructive hail in Cote de Beaune, early cool conditions followed thankfully by beautiful warm sunny conditions for the last 6 weeks to produce quality balanced fruit. Delicious Bargain here
Allen Meadows aka Burghound 90 Points, (Outstanding): “Here the nose is more elegant and a bit more expressive as well with its combination of both red and dark currant aromas that are laced with hints of spice and dried floral elements. There is also a bit more volume and concentration to the delicious, rich and vibrant mineral-laden flavors where a touch of the Savigny-like sauvage character arises on the balanced finale.
