Domaine Chanson is one of the great historic producers in Burgundy. Founded in 1750, they are one of only six producers in the region still remaining from the 18th century and earlier.
Most critical to today, Chanson was purchased by Family Champagne Group Societé Jacques Bollinger in 1999 and has been dramatically restored to once again become one of Burgundy’s top estates.
Chanson has extensive holdings of over 111 acres of exclusively Premier and Grand Cru vineyards in the heart of Burgundy. This includes 62 acres of Premier Cru vineyards in the Côte de Beaune, making them one of the leading Premier Cru specialists in the appellation. They produce approximately 17,000 cases of domaine wine per year from their vineyards by farming organically, and harvesting all grapes and vinifying all wines, even for contracted vineyards.
The Chanson estate produces over half of its own fruit requirements and all the Estate owned vineyards are farmed organically. The other grapes are sourced from growers selected according to their commitment to quality in alignment with Chanson’s quality Charter. Individual plot selection produces fruit which also remains separate through the fermentation and ageing processes. The soil is ploughed to encourage the vines to extend their roots more deeply and therefore better express the typicity of the Terroir. All the grapes are hand-picked at optimum maturity.

Careful selection of grapes in the vineyard and winery have produced exceptional red wines with very pure aromas. Grapes are exclusively sourced from select vineyards in the Côte de Nuits, from plots of Domaine Chanson and from terroirs located in the south of the Côte de Beaune.
An excellent vintage in 2020 producing bright fruit driven wines with beautiful aromatics and finish. stock up while you can as 2021 was a disastrous vintage (80-90% reduced yields).
From the winemaker … “Beautiful brilliant ruby color. Fragrances of violet on gourmet aromas of burlat cherry, wild strawberry mixed with notes of spices. Complex and full of energy. Dense texture on a very pure fruit. Nice length with notes of spices.”
