Description
BK Wines from the Adelaide Hills is Brendon Keys, a freethinking frontier artisan wine maker. His wines are cutting edge, yet they are the very definition of modern Australian quality wine making. Brendon does things a bit differently but always with great control and purpose. BK Wines are single vineyard, hand picked wines … organically grown using biodynamic practices, minimal intervention (including wild yeasts, no fining or filtering). Brendan ‘s makes wines of great character and finesse not overblown and alcoholic and because of his fanaticism in the vineyard his wines give a true sense of terroir and the individual site, making each wine unique. BK wines are highly sought and sell out upon release. 2013 Awarded one of the Top Ten Dark Horses in the James Halliday Wine Companion and 5 Stars.
A Pinot Noir with Nebbiolo like character, some dark fruits of black cherry and a little rhubarb. Gorgeous pallet with plenty of structure to this wine, dark fruits with silky tannins.
92 points Gary Walsh The Wine Front … “Smoky strawberry spice and char grilled meat. Light bodied with a perky nip of acidity and a light drag of tannin – kind of delicate, yet also has force of personality. Good length. Energetic. Nice work. Toyed with rating it a little higher. ”
Evocative tasting notes by Brendan Keys … “Boundary-shifting artistry has traditionally been scorned by the invested academicians of the day. Even the term ‘impressionism’ was originally intended as scathing mockery of an avant-garde movement. But the beauty of the paintings was undeniable and in time the curious upstart became the beloved. What began in the BK winery in 2012 as an experiment in time-on-skins envelope pushing has developed with this new vintage into a stylistic genre. 100 days on skins and pressed at the peak of its character, the result is an autumnal, maple-leaf landscape. Sizzling bacon, pomegranate jam and wild-berry tea tannins. The seduction of true art lies in its continuous evolution.” RRP $35
