Description
The Catena family arrived in Argentina, (“the promised land”) in 1898 and the family has had 4 generations of winemaking. Nicolas Catena is regarded as the godfather of modern winemaking (experimenting with clones) and in the 1980’s pioneered viticulture at high altitude – the key making premium wine in Mendoza .
Rich and polished, abounding in pure cassis and blackberry fruit on the palate with fragrance of spice and floral notes. Terrific length and supple fine grained tannins. Decant this fine malbec so it can open out….
“Smart Buy. A dark and jammy red, with enough acidity to propel the roasted plum and wild berry compote notes. Layers of smoke, toasted spice and espresso emerge on the rich finish.” 91 points —Nathan Wesley, The Wine Spectator
